    • Fordham University students protested against "white supremacy" Monday, specifically citing an incident in which conservative students tried to buy coffee while wearing MAGA gear.

Fordham Students United (FSU), "an intersectional coalition of student leaders, activists, faculty & alumni," staged the March 12 protest in an effort to "bring social justice on campus," writing on the Facebook page for the demonstration that "white supremacy" is present on campus but the administration has "failed to publicly denounce it."

The Fordham Ram reports that the protest, clocking in at an hour and a half, consisted of students shouting chants of "hate speech is not free speech" and marching with signs stating that "Racism is a Social Sin" and "White Supremacy Kills."

    • Black History Month Menu at New York University: Kool-Aid, Watermelon and Controversy
      Posted 02/22/2018 02:47 PM
    • On Tuesday, a dining hall at New York University advertised a special meal in honor of Black History Month. On the menu? Barbecue ribs, corn bread, collard greens, and two beverages with racist connotations: Kool-Aid and watermelon-flavored water.

Nia Harris, a sophomore in N.Y.U.'s College of Arts & Science, sought an explanation from Weinstein Passport Dining Hall's head cook. The cook dismissed her objections, Ms. Harris said in an email to university officials, telling her that the Kool-Aid was actually fruit punch (it was not, she said) and that the dining hall served fruit-flavored water "all the time" (it does, she said, but not watermelon).

The head cook also told Ms. Harris that the employees who planned the menu were black.

Dr. Brooke Mascagni, who teaches "American Political Institutions" at California State University-Dominguez Hills, rails against Trump in the "shortened version" syllabus, according to Campus Reform.

"Future generations will wonder how the greatest democracy in the world elected a white supremacist, misogynist, narcissistic, volatile, belligerent, uninformed, stubborn, failed businessman and orange reality star to the highest office," Mascagni wrote under a section titled "Why is this class important?"

    • University Professors: Trump Saying 'Merry Christmas' Promotes White Nationalism... LOVE IT
      Posted 12/26/2017 01:51 PM
    • A Newsweek article posted on Christmas Eve featured three university professors alleging that President Donald Trump is using Christmas to advance white nationalism, much like the Nazis did in 1930s Germany.

According to the "experts" interviewed by Newsweek's Cristina Maza, Trump vowing to end the "war on Christmas" and promising his supporters they can say "Merry Christmas" again is just a "dog whistle" for white identity politics.

"I see such invocations of Christmas as a kind of cypher, what some would call a dog whistle," Richard King, a Washington State University professor told Newsweek. "It does not appear to be intolerant or extreme, but to attentive audiences it speaks volumes about identity and belonging - who and what are fully American."

University President Greg Fenves announced late Sunday night that the statues would be removed, saying such monuments have become "symbols of modern white supremacy and neo-Nazism." Crews started working amid a heavy police presence.

The school blocked off the area, and some arguments occurred among those gathered. But all of the statues were successfully taken down, university spokesman J.B. Bird said.

The proposal to host an on-campus display came from the local chapter of the Young Americans for Freedom (YAF). The university flatly turned them down, prompting student groups on both the left and right to say their freedom of speech had been violated.
