    • Tom Ridge calls for 'Regime Change' in Iran
Newsweek Op-ed written by Tom Ridge:

      http://www.newsweek.com/tom-ridge-we-need-regime-change-iran-680110

"In addition to working with supportive countries to confront Iran, there is a meaningful partnership to be built with an Iranian democratic resistance group with a global diaspora and significant presence in Iran itself - the NCRI (National Council of Resistance in Iran).

It was the NCRI which first blew the whistle on Tehran's hitherto 20-year clandestine nuclear weapons program in 2002, which triggered inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Or we could just GTFO of the Mideast and let them get back to blowing each other up?

Nah, let's spend trillions we don't have on trying to pacify a region that has rarely seen peace.

      Americans.

    • Turkey bans TV dating shows with emergency decree
Turkey has banned radio and TV dating programs with a decree made possible by the country's state of emergency. A new clause has been added to the article on protecting children in the country's media law.

"In radio and television broadcasting services, such programs in which people are introduced with the purpose of finding a friend or searching for a spouse... cannot be permitted,"says a statement in Turkey's Official Gazette, which publishes new legislation.

Reports that Turkey may ban matchmaking reality shows emerged this year in March, when Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said that "there are some strange programs that would scrap the institution of family, take away its nobility and sanctity."

"We are working on this and we are coming to the end of it. God willing, in the near future, we will most likely remedy this with an emergency decree," Kurtulmus said, adding "God willing, we will meet these societal demands."

    • As Trump Relishes in Establishment Praise, NYT Admits Assad Didn't Do 2013 Sarin Gas Attack
"The New York Times, which has never heard an allegation against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that it hasn't immediately believed, has compiled a list of his alleged atrocities with a surprising omission: the Aug. 21, 2013 sarin gas attack outside Damascus.

Why this omission is so surprising is that the sarin incident was the moment when the Western media and the Washington establishment piled on President Barack Obama for not enforcing his "red line" by launching military strikes against the Syrian government to retaliate for Assad "gassing his own people."

The retaliation, which would have pummeled the Syrian military, was hotly desired by neoconservatives and liberal interventionists who were obsessed with achieving another Mideast "regime change" even if that risked turning Syria over to Al Qaeda and/or the Islamic State. The story of Obama's supposed "red line" retreat has become a treasured groupthink of all the "important people" in D.C."

    • Russian general claims US-led coalition attacked Tabqa dam in Syria
A senior Russian general on Tuesday accused the U.S.-led coalition fighting the Islamic State of targeting Syria's infrastructure - including a key dam - in territory held by the Sunni extremist group.

Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi of the military's General Staff said the coalition was trying to "completely destroy critical infrastructure in Syria and complicate post-war reconstruction as much as possible."

A U.S.-backed Syrian opposition force has insisted it is taking care to preserve vital infrastructure as it steps up military operations in northern Syria ahead of a push on Raqqa, the de facto capital of the ISIS group's self-styled caliphate.

Rudskoi further claimed that coalition jets had destroyed four bridges over the Euphrates River in Syria and hit the Tabqa dam to the west of Raqqa.
