Nope. Insurers started leaving the markets after Rubio sabotaged the risk corridors. Corridors didn't mitigate losses, they mitigated risk. Big difference.

Sabotoged? No.. Insurer losses were being 'mitigated' by the govt. till 2017, that stopped, so the insurers quit or drastically raised their prices. The problem is that they are still losing money in some cases.. I think 2018 is a watershed year, the individual insurance market will either not exist or it'll be made up of limited benefit plans.

Again, no. Risk corridors are paid for by other insurers, not the government. Bush did the same thing for Medicare Part D, worked fine. Insurers need to quantify risk, it's what they do.

But Rubio managed to sabotage the risk corridors and drove lots of insurers out of the markets, then crowed about what an achievement it was. The result: you get less competition and higher prices. Remember to send him a thank you card for fucking you over.

    • Insurance companies make very little profit. I got a pamphlet from my company showing a graph- the lions share of money goes out in claims.

When you need diabetes management or some expensive heart surgery who do you think is on the hook for it?

How do you quantify risk when you must accept all comers, regardless of their health? You have no idea what you're going to get. It'll probably be worse than you ever expected.. And you still have to take them? No sane business would do that.

In 2017, we learned what happens when insurers say, without someone backstopping us, this is a dumb business to be in.

Rubio did us a favor and wiped out the insurance company bailout fund.. Because thats what it was..

    • I remain convinced that health insurance is not the answer..

The answer is: Costs must come down.. Drug costs especially.. You will need to pay for most care yourself, cash.. If people cannot afford it, there will be a lot less health care sold. People might elect to go to places where they get better value for their money. If you are indigent, you can expect much less care. If you have terminal diseases, we may just need to manage it, not treat it. Insurance will become a capped policy.. You buy a policy to replace your 30k car, maybe you only purchase 100k worth of worst case total health expenditure insurance.

You think everyone in Britain just gets the health care they want? No, but because they don't, their costs are much lower.

I guess paying 10K before you see a dime in benefits is a good thing

I just had relatives in from out of town, and they had great insurance until Obamacare stuck them with some shitty plan just like that. OP is a retard.
