    • I planted some grass and it grew. Surprised.
There are some bare spots on my lawn, which I didn't care much about. But I found a 90% off sale of garden stuff at Dollar General, so I got a smallish bag of grass seed for 60 cents. On October 14, Saturday, I raked up those little patches, trying to roughen the soil but I did not do very much, and hand planted the grass seed. I did not water or anything.

I noticed today it is growing pretty well in one of the spots! It probably was growing or sprouting on or even before Sat Oct 21 but I didn't notice. Just one week.

    • Dat would be too many puppies sniffing around

Ah, much better guess. Corgi puppies don't have floppy ears, so that was wrong. Pomeranian puppies, at least according to Google Images, are a bit more fuzz-bally looking. So, yeah, Pom mix maybe?

    • LOL. My company replaced a Database Administrator with a lower paid H1B. Guess what happened?

If you're capturing all the devices and can at least quiesce the instance while the snapshots are being activated so the database is in a consistent state, mmkay. If your array shits itself or some fuckwit deletes the snapshot you're fux0red.

Still doesn't replace a proper backup to an external device.

They're mostly useful as an initial recovery option because it's typically a lot faster to replay a snapshot than recover from a full backup.
